Prolific pawpaw is a nice balance between wild and cultivated, offering a range of great characteristics, especially for those looking for more of the “wild pawpaw experience”. Selected by Corwin Davis of Michigan in the mid-1980s, the tree is precocious and can start bearing fruit within two years after planting. Prolific pawpaw trees crop abundant yields of light yellow fleshed, medium-large sized fruits that have a unique chewy, smooth texture and a subtle tropical, “wild” pawpaw flavor with hints of coconut and coffee. Ripens early/mid season.
