About Our Beautiful Beginnings
In 2014, I, Rachel, and my former husband established Peaceful Heritage Nursery in central Kentucky. During the 10 years I was with PHN, I worked diligently to become a skilled grafter, cultivator and supplier of numerous types of high quality fruit trees and berries, even introducing a number of new and popular varieties of pawpaws and mulberries to the nursery trade during this time.
Upon ending my time with Peaceful Heritage in 2023, I found myself at a significant crossroads in life. Gaining my freedom, while priceless, left me in a position where I found myself as a single mom with a son who is a heart warrior (L-Transposed, Hypoplastic Right Ventricle) with no home, no business and no idea what my next step in life was. I decided going back to school and getting my nursing degree was a reasonable option, however, the closer classes got to starting, the more unsettled I felt about this decision. I’d always been an at-home mom and the idea of eventually working outside the home nagged at me unrelentlessly. Boldly facing this juncture in my life, I realized I had another option available: take a wild chance and use the last 10 years of experience as a successful nurserywoman and start my own fruit tree nursery. And thus, out of my own beautiful new beginning in life, Beautiful Beginnings Nursery was born.
While it has not been easy, I am proud to be where I am today. I am a survivor. I am the mother of an amazingly strong, brave, and deeply sensitive boy. I am the wife of the most incredible man who is my friend, my encourager, my support, and my partner in life. And I am pleased to be one of the few female nursery owners and highly respect and value my male counterparts and their contributions to my own growth in the trade.
Amidst the cold, dark depths of winter lies the seed of hope for Spring and from that hope germinates new life and beautiful beginnings.

In February 2024, Rachel purchased a property in downtown Danville, Kentucky that has 1.4 acres! The property has been neglected for 30+ years so while the house and property both need a lot of work, the potential for the property is evident and we are making progress. The goal is to transfer the operations of Beautiful Beginnings from our rental over to the property in 2025, at which point we will expand and increase our output and offerings.
We are excited to put down our roots (both literally and figuratively) and watch our growth…
Pawpaws are definitely what we specialize in. As our space increases and our orchards are established, we will continue to add new and unusual varieties to our list of already high-quality cultivars.
Once BBN is established at our new sight, we will set up a greenwood propagation system at which point we will greatly increase our mulberry offerings to include many cultivars that do not graft well but that grow beautifully from greenwood cuttings.
