Morus alba x rubra
A somewhat rare variety that was introduced by Louis Gerardi of Gerardi Nursery in Illinois, “Gerardi Dwarf” is an excellent choice for those who are wanting the amazing benefits of mulberry but who have limited growing space. It has a beautiful growth habit with big, glossy leaves and will only grow to a maximum height of 6-8 feet tall. Because of its dwarfing habit, it is also the tree of choice for those wanting to hand-pick their mulberries or who want to easily net their tree. It produces large crops of full-sized, sweet/tart, juicy mulberries that ripen over the course of a month or more and which are considered as good as the best tasting mulberry cultivars. It is immune to popcorn disease and so will grow where Illinois Everbearing and Collier will not.
