Discovered on the same late 1800’s orchard in Richmond, KY as “Honeydew” and “Cantaloupe” and released by Woody Walker, “Marshmallow” is an impressive cultivar with superb flavor and texture and very fast growing habits. The fruits are plump, well-formed and medium in size (7-9 ounces) while the light flesh has a chiffon/marshmallow/custard texture. The flavor is a mix of tropical fruit with sweet honeyed-melon and is the sweetest of these three Woody Walker releases. The freestone seeds make it especially easy for processing. Ripens early season.
