Sunflower
Strong mango/apricot/pineapple/banana flavor with hints of vanilla; Mid-Late ripening
$44.99 – $124.99
Selected from the wild in Chanute, KS, by Milo Gibson in 1970, “Sunflower” has played a vital role in helping lay the foundation of the current pawpaw movement and is the parent to the notable “Prima 1216” cultivar. It is one of the rare, partially self-fertile pawpaw cultivars and so is a good choice if you only have room for one, single pawpaw tree. (Hand-pollination may help with higher fruit set). If grown with other cultivars of pawpaws, fruit size will increase with hand-thinning. It bears medium-sized, thick, creamy fleshed fruit and has a strong mango/apricot,/pineapple/banana flavor with hints of vanilla. Ripens mid-late season.
