Another newer cultivar coming out of the breeding work by Tom Wahl of Red Fern Farm in Wapello, IN, “Canopus” is the heaviest producing cultivar he has introduced to date.
A cross between “Shenandoah” x “Susquehanna”, it has all the desirable qualities that are to be expected from such high-quality parentage; large fruit size, excellent flavor and texture, low seed-count, and high productivity.
Among pawpaw enthusiasts, “Canopus” is considered to be one of the most promising new selections of pawpaws available.
Ripens mid-late season (September-early October).
