Atria: A Mid-Season Bright Star

Another cross between “Shenandoah” x “Susquehanna” developed by Tom Wahl of Red Fern Farm, “Atria” is gaining recognition as a high-quality and desirable pawpaw cultivar. Beyond its custard-like texture and rich, sweet tropical flavor, it is regarded for its large fruit size, low seed count and especially heavy yields.

A unique characteristic, especially for bred and selected cultivars, is that the fruit shape of Atria is more elongated which is reminiscent of the “wild” pawpaw shape. Once established, the tree bears reliable crops season after season, ripening its fruit mid season (late August-September).
